The Lean Green Machine

I must admit, until recently I thought that in order for green smoothies to be good for you they had to taste like...well, just sick and wrong. But I've been playing around with different fruits and veggies and I have to say, I LOVE green smoothies now! They're actually pretty hard to mess up! Go figure!

They're super easy, really fast and incredibly good for you. I'm not the only one who thinks so either...my husband is even hooked on them!

Here's the scoop on why I love these ingredients. Every ingredient in here is loaded with antioxidants, contain anti-inflammatory properties, help fight against cancer and are bursting with fiber! This helps you feel fuller for longer which supports weight loss. Include one of these a day and you'll be lovin your skinny jeans in no time!

The apple, pear, avocado, kale and spinach all contain elements that fight the effects of aging on your brain which means they help prevent Alzheimer's disease. They all reduce cholesterol, have loads of vitamin C and help regulate blood pressure.

The pear, spinach and celery all include pretty impressive levels of folate which are essential for pregnant women. It helps diminish the risk for neural tube birth defects.

Celery and cucumber both have a lot of water in them so they help to rehydrate your body.

So, all in all this smoothie is amazing and tastes amazing too! This is one you should definitely try! In addition, you can totally put your own spin on it! Add in your favorite fruits and veggies - try it out! It's really hard to mess up!

1 pear
1/2 avocado

-Blend it all up and enjoy!

-For beginners I recommend trying the spinach first. It's delicious and the flavor is less assertive.

Spoil Yourself Healthy

Hey guys!

For my first post allow me to introduce myself.

I LOVE life! I love the sights, the tastes, the sounds, the feelings, the smells...all of it! I am so thankful to be alive! It's interesting to note how many people walk around, but aren't truly alive. I try to wake up each morning with happiness and a purpose for my day.

I am an outgoing, bright, bubbly person. I love meeting new people and making new friends and memories. I love being married...it's like the best thing ever! I love yummy food that's healthy. I love living in harmony and balance and I love helping other people find theirs.

That's a little about me and there will be more to come! So, speaking of yummy food that's healthy, I made this Chocolate Chia Pudding that was out of this world the other day and I have to share the recipe!

Does that look delicious or what? And it's healthy for you too! Chia seeds are little superfood heroes in my book. Let me give you the skinny on these little guys, they:
  • Help to regulate your blood sugar which fights against that annoying belly fat
  • Are packed full of Omega 3s!
  • Just 2 TBS of these guys contains 1/3 of the daily recommended fiber intake - which means you'll feel fuller for longer and won't feel the need to fill up on junk food
  • Help prevent aging because they are filled to the brim with antioxidants
  • Contain Calcium which helps you to build strong teeth and bones
And that's just a few of their benefits! Have I convinced you to try them yet?

It does have a different texture than pudding, but another one of the great things about chia seeds is they can be digested whole. That means you don't have to chew every single seed.

You can leave this in the fridge overnight and snack on it the next day. It's a super quick recipe to prepare!

Chocolate Chia Pudding
Serves 2

4 Tbs chia seeds
1 C. almond milk
2 Tbs cocoa powder
4 Tbs agave syrup
1 tsp vanilla

-Mix all ingredients together. It does take a couple minutes to incorporate it all together. Refrigerate for a least 30 minutes (can leave overnight). Top with fresh berries.

Let me know what you think!
